To Die of Love and Keep on Living

“To Die of Love and Keep on Living” was first published in brazil in 2017 and was nominated for best comic’s book at the most prestigious Brazilian literature prize (Prêmio Jabuti).

The book is part of a wider project by Lorena Kaz that encompasses exhibitions, social media, workshops and lectures to raise awareness about domestic violence and the creation of women’s identity. 

Many of the 61 stories (made of 1 or 2 illustrated pages) pictured in this book were based on testimonials gathered from the “mada” (mulheres que amam demais anônimas) anonymous group for emotional dependency, non-violent communication dynamics and the author’s volunteer work at “cvv” (centro de valorização da vida) suicide prevention hot-line.
